Quality Control PCB Receiving Inspector

Summary: Inspects and make minor repairs of printed circuit boards (PCBs) by performing the following duties.


  • Examine PCB for cosmetic defects using IPC-A-600 as reference

  • Perform general precision inspection on fabricated printed circuit boards (PCB) and machined parts to determine conformance with applicable drawings, specification or instructions

  • Perform receiving, and first article inspections using customer drawings to determine compliance and record inspection status on QC records

  • Examine PCB circuitry to detect defects such a shorts, breaks, excess or missing solder, scratches, cracks, exposed copper, and delamination

  • Brushes solder mask ink on PCBs to repair defects

  • Remove excess plating, or solder mask from PCB pads

  • Records type and quantity of defective PCBs on QC Data sheets

  • When continuity is in question, test PCB circuits to determine compliance, using test equipment, such as DMM

  • Proficient with measuring equipment (calipers, multi-meters, ohm meters)

  • Required education, experience and attributes of a successful candidate

  • Must have previous experience in an EMS or OEM environment

  • Education Level – High School

  • Minimum 5 years experience in electronics manufacturing along with mechanical inspection

  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 or AS9100-certified electronics-manufacturing environment

  • Experience inspecting printed circuit board assemblies to IPC-A-610 and IPC-J-STD-001 standards

  • Must be proficient in English including the ability to communicate with all departments in the company
