Senior SMT Process Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Process Engineering candidate who will report directly to the Director of Engineering.

Required education, experience and attributes of a successful candidate:

  • 8-15 years experience in an contract electronics manufacturing environment

  • Experienced in lead/lead-free profiling in an surface mount technology (SMT) environment

  • Significant wave soldering process engineering experience

  • Experienced in SMT, through-hole and box-build manufacturing 

  • Understanding of quick-turn / new product introduction environments

  • Knowledgeable in IPC-A-610, IPC-J-STD-001, AS9100, ISO 13485 and MIL standards

  • Experienced in assembly process evaluation, control and validation, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, LRIP, and first article process controls

  • Proficient at preparing work instructions, assembly & test procedures, stenciling, tooling and fixturing specifications

  • Experience with Mydata SMT equipment, aqueous cleaning and wave solder equipment. Would be great if you had experience with Samsung SMT equipment as well

  • Ability to read and write technical English with a high degree of proficiency

  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 or AS9100 and FDA -certified electronics manufacturing environment

  • Understanding of YESTECH AOI systems

  • Understand solder, solderability, process controls of working with lead and lead free solders

  • Understanding of lean concepts. If candidate were a continuous improvement champion, Six-Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt, that would be great

  • Minimum of a BSEE required

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate various groups, including customers, support staff and technical staff

  • Conduct engineering evaluations, statistical analysis and corrective actions supporting process improvement efforts

  • Monitor and continuously improve the quality of manufacturing processes

  • Support continuous process improvement projects

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing methods, work instructions and processes

  • Create and validate manufacturing processes, conduct design of experiments, conduct defect and failure analyses and prepare required reports

  • Evaluate, troubleshoot and problem-solve SMT & wave solderer profiles, production equipment, fixtures, tools, materials, chemicals and processes

  • Interface with Production and Quality teams

  • Provide technical expertise to Production team

  • Deliver technical customer presentations during quarterly business reviews

  • Provide annual cost reduction opportunities for the company as well as customers

  • Develop SMT key performance indicators for the factory improvement model
