President and Chief Executive Officer
Brian Shane joined Qual-Pro in 1998 as Chief Operating Officer when the company employed 50 people and operated in a 16,000 square foot factory. He was appointed chief executive officer in 2005 and oversaw the growth in the company’s sales to more than 10X. He began his career working for General Mills, Smith & Hawken and other direct marketers in marketing, sales and management roles. He graduated UCLA in 1981 with a BA in Communications and received an MA in Communications in 1983 from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel.
Director of Human Resources and Facilities
David Shane joined Qual-Pro in 2004 involved in business development and project management. He was integral in the layout/design and subsequent construction of both the Gardena facility and the Thailand facility. Mr. Shane directs all building upgrades and services. He plays a large role in facilitating effective interaction with local government and utility agencies. He directs the Human Resources department and manages employment related policy and benefits programs.
Mr. Shane had 23 years of experience specializing in Municipal Bond marketing and underwriting for statewide projects at M.L. Stern and PaineWebber/UBS.
His education includes a degree in Business from California State University at Northridge and he attended Tuck School of Business, Dartmouth University.
Director of Information Technology and Software Development
Since 1995, Darrell Shane has served in a variety of roles related to technology at Qual-Pro Corporation. Mr. Shane joined Qual-Pro from IBM where he was a Research Fellow developing storage subsystems products for mainframes. Prior to that, he worked for The Rand Corporation as a Scientist in the Information Technology Department, of which projects included: image processing, simulation and graphical user interfaces. Previous positions included consulting work developing GPS and LORAN C navigational products for Micrologic; system design and development integrating AI and simulation for Perceptronics; database and network development for Micropolis.
Mr. Shane is a 1985 graduate of California State University of Northridge, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, with a Minor in Mathematics. He has a M.S. in Engineering from the University of California Los Angeles from 1990.
Kirk A. Waldron
Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
Kirk A. Waldron has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Qual-Pro since 2013. He is responsible for all aspects of the Company’s financial functions and supply chain.
Prior to joining Qual-Pro, Mr. Waldron has worked in a variety of industries and has had significant experiences, both financially and operationally, with public companies, mergers and acquisitions, hyper growth, and turnarounds. Mr. Waldron began his career with Ernst & Young, Los Angeles where he earned his CPA license (inactive). More recently, he worked at Classic Party Rentals, Inc, the largest event rental company in the country. During his tenure at Classic, Mr. Waldron played a leading role in tripling revenue during a very short time. Mr. Waldron has extensive experience in the electronics industry having, amongst other stints, spent four years at SMTEK International, an international publicly traded electronics manufacturer.
Mr. Waldron has a degree in Business Administration/Accounting from the University of Southern California. He has been on numerous boards and currently is the Audit Committee Chairman of InfoSonics, a publicly traded wireless manufacturer and distributor of wireless handsets.
Vice President of Engineering and Sales
David Soden joined Qual-Pro in 2017 as Director of Engineering and now serves as Vice President of Engineering and Sales. He has extensive experience in high-reliability electronics within the EMS and OEM sectors, and in Sales, totaling 30 years of industry experience. This experience has included positions in design engineering, program management, engineering management, operations management, sales engineering, and NPI management. Companies he has worked at include Rocketdyne, SMTEK (now Benchmark), Solectron (now Flextronics), and most recently, AeroVironment.
Mr. Soden has a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where he also earned a US Army officer commission where he later served as a company and battalion-level (armor) reserve officer.
Qual-Pro’s technical and high-reliability electronic customers are well served by synchronizing our sales and engineering teams under David’s leadership.
Vice President of Global Operations
Chris Sorby joined Qual-Pro as Vice President of Global Operations in April 2016. Mr. Sorby is responsible for manufacturing, engineering and quality operations at the Qual-Pro facilities in Los Angeles and Thailand.
Mr. Sorby has over 35 years of executive management experience in the electronics contract manufacturing industry, primarily focused on high reliability sectors such as medical, aerospace/defense and industrial.
Prior to joining Qual-Pro, Mr. Sorby was the General Manager at Benchmark Electronics in San Jose, CA, Vice President of Operations at Stellar Microelectronics Inc. Flextronics in Valencia, CA, and General Manager at SMTEK International in Moorpark, CA.
Roy L. McFarlin
Director of Supply Chain Management
Roy L. McFarlin joined Qual-Pro in 2015 in the capacity of Director of Supply Chain Management. He has over 20 years of extensive experience in electronics and contract manufacturing industries manufacturing.
Acting as a Director of Supply Chain, he has built comprehensive teams and instilled the required relationship skills to grow supply chain organizations through contributions in developing innovative and effective cost saving, productivity and improved “Best Practices”.
Prior to joining Qual-Pro he spent a majority of his career in leadership and managerial positions with various electronics manufacturing companies such as Celestica, Touchstone Wireless Flextronics and Cal Comp Corporation.
Roy started his career in procurement and quickly established his leadership and managerial skills allowing him to rise through the managerial ranks. The level of experience gained, along with executive level mentors, allowed him to develop a wealth of knowledge in Supply Chain Management. Roy earned his bachelor degree in Business Management from Northeastern Oklahoma State University with an emphasis in Economics.
Michael J. Werdal
Director of Program Management
Michael J. Werdal has more than 30 years of manufacturing and program management experience, which began as production control for Xerox Corporation, and grew to increasing levels of responsibility in manager and director level positions. His technical, operations and business background has been focused in the technology sector and includes experience building electronics for aerospace OEMs and large multi-national EMS operations.
Mr. Werdal's career responsibilities have taken him to Asia where he developed and implemented product transfer plans from one manufacturing site to another. He is a Certified Program Manager and has extensive experience running program management teams, achieving targets for large EMS companies. troubleshooting manufacturing challenges, empowering customer focus teams to ensure cross-functional coordination and implementing continuous improvement.
Director of Quality
Wanda Gray joined Qual-Pro 16 years ago at its Director of Quality, spanning 30+ years of experience in the quality profession, she has supported the initiatives of TQM, ISO 9100, AS9100, ISO 13485, Nadcap and FDA Device Manufacturing. Accomplishing these certifications during her tenure has taken the company from operating in primarily a commercial client business base to medical, aerospace and defense business. Mrs. Gray has a Bachelor degree in Business Management from the University of La Verne, and has earned numerous certifications including ISO and AS auditor certifications.
